We are currently looking to recruit a CNC – Programming Engineer to join our business in Christchurch, Dorset.

Job description:

CNC – Programming Engineer

Machining background with previous experience of setting and operating CNC machinery. Job vacancy is with an engineering company producing specialist components for the aerospace industry. Skilled Engineer with experience of using CADCAM software, ideally Edgecam and Catia. You will be responsible for converting 3D models and drawings into code for the CNC machines.   

The Programming Engineer job will involve:

  • Using CAD CAM software to convert designs and models into programs for 5 axis and 3 + 2 milling machining purposes.
  • Design and Manufacture of Shop tooling.
  • Producing Quotes for Machined items.
  • Setting / Operating CNC machinery.
  • Supporting First Article Inspection of machined components

This Programming Engineer job will suit:

  • Previous experience of using CAD CAM software to program CNC machines. Preferably using    Edgecam.
  • Come from a CNC setting / operating background looking for progression.
  • Aerospace background would be an advantage but not essential
  • Candidate must have a solid background in offline programming, using Catia/Edgecam/ Alphacam etc
  • Experience of generating accurate 3D models from 2D drawings for purposes of machine programming.
  • Must be capable of generating CNC machining programs off-line, from either customer supplied drawings or customer supplied models.
  • Ability to operate CNC Machines
  • To Machine complex, tolerance critical & finish critical parts on Time & budget with a variety of metals
  • Deliver work with minimal levels of scrap/rework
  • Work closely with the design & engineering staff from this site & others to manufacture parts as required
  • Aerospace experience advantageous

We are currently looking to recruit a Quality Administrator to join our business in Christchurch Dorset.

Job description:

Working within the Quality Department performing data inputting and general administrative duties.

Key Responsibilities

Quality administrator will update and maintain the quality computerised databases and manual systems for recording and reporting.NB This job description reflects essential functions and responsibilities. The Quality administrator job will involve: 

  • Update and maintain the quality computerised databases and manual systems for recording and reporting.
  • Completing customer surveys.
  • Update quality assurance procedures, practices and systems as directed by Quality department.
  • Populate and maintain the NCR Log with the details of non-conformances, including identified NCR’s during internal audits & follow up on actions agreed with the Quality Manager.
  • Taking telephone calls and messages as well as general office duties. Health & Safety and Environmental (SHE) policies and culture are adhered to
  • Ensure best practice health and safety within the department at all times, in conjunction with company policies, rules and regulations.
  • Ensure best practices environmental management within the facilities.
  • Ensuring that safe conditions of work and observance of all current Health and Safety legislation are maintained within their department at all times.

Documentation, implementation and maintenance of a cost effective calibration system, to meet customer, internal requirements, external accreditation bodies and regulatory requirements including EN/AS9100, ISO9001, & NADCAP.

Key Responsibilities

The day-to-day running, monitoring and maintenance of the Quality Management System including audit planning, reporting and analysis.

Raise Defect Report and corrective action requests as necessary and facilitate internal and customer product non-conformance reviews, monitor and escalate, where necessary, internal product quality issues.

Maintain a cost effective calibration system, to meet customer, internal requirements, external accreditation bodies and regulatory requirements.

The Quality Engineering job will involve:

  • Assist with audits across all aspects of the businesses quality system to meet customer and regulatory requirements including EN/AS9100, ISO9001, & NADCAP.
  • Documentation and implementation of new approvals as required.
  • Analyse customer complaints, identify trends and execute corrective actions.
  • Raise Defect Report and corrective action requests as necessary and facilitate internal and customer product non-conformance reviews, monitor and escalate, where necessary, internal product quality issues.
  • Assist in determining root cause and implement corrective action for customer complaints and product defects.
  • Participate in new product development and failure investigations.
  • Provide written Quality Assurance reports as needed.
  • Assist in producing and reviewing of First Article Inspection Reports including supplier report verification.
  • Review and authorise customer deliverable documents, change requests and test specifications.
  • Design, develop, implement and maintain quality metrics.
  • Release conforming product in accordance with customer requirements (Certificate of Conformance).
  • Interface with suppliers and customers concerning program quality requirements.
  • Cross department liaison in support of program and product quality requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean working environment, in order to ensure clean components, free from contamination and foreign objects, and consistent quality environmental and health and safety standards.
  • Use of appropriate quality tools – Six Sigma, 5Y’s, Lean Manufacturing, and Continuous Improvement.
  • Performing other duties as deemed necessary to ensure the effective running of the Department and Company.

Calibration  

  • Document, implement and maintain a cost effective calibration system, to meet customer, internal requirements, external accreditation bodies and regulatory requirements including EN/AS9100, ISO9001, & NADCAP.
  • Effective recall of equipment due for calibration including in-house routine calibration and associated records.
  • Tool (jigs and fixture) calibration and control.
  • Approving internal/external calibration certificates and maintaining associated records.
  • Reducing calibration costs via process improvement.
  • Reviewing calibration periodicity and advising the Quality Manager of necessary changes to maintain integrity of calibration whilst minimising costs.

General Candidate must have:

  • Degree/HNC/HND qualified.
  • Recognised, apprenticeship (beneficial).
  • Demonstrable Aerospace experience (preferred).
  • Sound knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001 Quality Management Standard (preferred).
  • NADCAP experience (preferred).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Qualified Auditor (preferred) / relevant experience of internal auditing and supplier assessment.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal and composites manufacturing methods including mechanical assemblies.
  • Ability to prioritize work effectively, and to work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Problem solving skills for developing creative solutions to meet objectives.
  • Ability to interface with all levels of management.
  • Production floor experience in defect reduction and process improvement would be beneficial.
  • Proficient IT skills including MS-Office (primarily, Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent analytical ability.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and a positive approach to all areas of work.
  • ITAR Compliant.

Metal Worker

Metal Worker

We are currently looking to recruit a Metal Work to join our business in Christchurch Dorset.

Job purpose:

The Metal Worker will assume and discharge the responsibility for the manufacture of sheetmetal components within the Sheetmetal and associated shops in an expeditious, economical and safe manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working to drawings, sketches and verbal instructions.
  • The manufacture of sheetmetal components within the Sheetmetal Shop and associated Shops, ensuring they conform to both customer and company procedures.
  • Setting and operating machinery supplied for the manufacture of sheetmetal component (including Stretch Former).
  • Ensuring that all tools and jigs supplied for the manufacture of sheetmetal components are up to issue and in a good condition.
  • Ensuring that the required standard of work and good housekeeping is maintained at all times.
  • Ensuring that safe conditions of work and observance of all current Health and Safety legislation is maintained.
  • Assisting with the practical training of apprentices and trainees within the Department in line with Company Procedures.
  • Performing other duties as may be deemed necessary to ensure the effective running of the Department and Company.

The Metal Worker must always work within the guidelines defined by the Sheetmetal Shop Foreman and also within the framework of current legislation both in Industrial Relations and Health and Safety at Work.
